Catching up with the Charlotte region

Hello everyone!

It feels like an eternity since I lost wrote. A lot of changes have happened this year including moving into the new training center at Area 15, SERBC has come and gone,  USBC is happening this weekend, and training has commenced. I am excited to start offering the full line of labs at the Charlotte Training Center. For a schedule go to http://www.counterculturecoffee.com/education/course-schedule. We have had some great cuppings over the past month and we are looking to increase attendance this year, so if you or someone you know is interested in learning more about coffee, come on down. New this year as well, I will be implementing office hours to provide better access to the Training Center. Stop by for you morning cup and hang out if you’d like.

Other news…Tea. Rishi tea company sent me some samples of tea recently. I have been giving my palate a new experience, and I must say I am intrigued. I will write more on this as I begin to explore the huge world of tea.

Charlotte Coffee Community kicked off the year with some very successful TNT’s. We held April’s TNT at the Charlotte Training Center, and it was a blast. Lauren Petri from Quail Corners Coffee Shop stepped up her game and took the win. We had some new faces, and were joined by Luke Hudek and team, as well as Matt and team from Three Goats coffee in Mooresville, NC.

Open House party is on the horizon. Once I get all the little details polished and the training center better organized I plan on having a open house/TC warming party. All are invited to join. Keep checking back for details.

That is all for now. Remember, cuppings are every Friday at 10 AM sharp. See you there.

Cheers,

Brent.

Charlotte Training Center is back in business!

hello everyone.

So it has been a long road to opening.  I appreciate everyone’s patience with not having a cupping every Friday.  But good news is on the horizon.  We will be holding our first cupping in the new training center Friday March 12th at 10 AM.  The address is 512 15th st, Charlotte, NC 28206.  You can park in front of Area 15 and enter the 512 door and go all the way to the back, or park in the back and come up the stairs to our main entrance.

If you have questions or concerns or just need more directions, please feel free to call me at 704-277-3825.

I look forward to a great future with this training center.  I hope to see you all soon!

TNT for Haiti Relief

What a great night!

TNT at the Coffee Garden was probably one of our best yet.  We had 9 competitors throwing down head to head style.  Al and Gail Besiegel shared their touching story of being on the ground during the massive earthquake in Haiti just a month ago.  We managed to raise $400 for Partners in Health.  Thanks to all the competitors, judges, sponsors, and especially the Besiegels for making this such a successful event.   Our competitors were Kyle Mueller, Sarah Mueller, Ben Alleman, Issac Stroupe, Brady Butler, Brad Benson, Lauren Petri, Corey Gaston, and Brent Hall.  We look forward to having more events in the future.  So keep an eye out for more to come.

Cheers.
